Céline Boutier revives, Yu Jin Sung stays the course at the Lotte Championship

After cards at 74 and 69, Céline Boutier once again lowered her card in the 3rd round with 67. If she continues this momentum, she will probably not be far from the Lotte Championship trophy. Of course, in golf, things are rarely that simple, but the Frenchwoman is well and truly in the running for the title after her great day (6 birdies, 1 bogey): “To be honest, I don’t feel like I played that differently from other days. Except that, this time, my game was very solid. On the first day, I didn’t make putts and when you don’t birdie, it’s complicated”.

“On the second lap, I made a few too many mistakes, it’s true, she concedes. But I had still returned seven birdies. This time there was less wind, I was able to take advantage of it. I had a lot of birdie chances. I don’t know what position I’m going to finish in but I’m just going to try to sign the lowest card possible on the last lap..

On this third round, only Baily Tardy did better (65) and the American finds herself tied with Céline Boutier (-6). In front, the Korean Yu Jin Sung, 135th in the world and without any major reference, stays the course (-9). It is possible that she will end up finding the last lap very long given her lack of experience: “I’m happy with my card, especially since there’s a lot of wind. It’s my 4th tournament on the PGA, I try to play like in Korea but it’s obviously not the same pressure. I try not to think too much about winning, to stay focused on my golf.”. It will be the hardest part if the trophy gets closer.
