Cameroon: Over 200 Judokas compete at the 2023 National Judo Championship

The National Dojo of Fecajudo, located behind the central command of the GMI road of Soa, welcomes this Saturday, April 22, 2023 from 8:30 am the national competition of judo juniors and seniors, men and women. An impressive number of participants for this edition

The competition highlights the vitality of Cameroonian judo with a total of 214 registered judokas. In the men’s category, 178 participants will compete for medals in 7 weight categories. As for the ladies, 79 judokas will compete in 7 weight categories as well. Among the men, there will be 34 judokas in -60 kg, 40 in -66 kg, 35 in -73 kg, 33 in -81 kg, 10 in -90 kg, 15 in -100 kg and 11 in +100 kg. On the women’s side, there will be 11 judokates in -48 kg, 11 in -52 kg, 10 in -57 kg, 14 in -63 kg, 10 in -70 kg, 9 in -78 kg and 14 in +78 kg .

African gold medalists in contention

Among the competitors are Georgika Wesly Djengue (-78 kg) and Marie Baba Matia (-52 kg), both gold medalists at the African Judo Open in Luanda, Angola, which took place from 8 to April 9. There is no shortage of talent with also Biami Zita Ornella (-70 kg) and Etoua Biock Audrey Jeannette (-63 kg), silver medalists in Luanda.
