Bruno Saltor, his first words as manager of the Blues

Bruno Saltor, former assistant to Graham Potter, gave his first pre-match press conference before facing Liverpool on Tuesday in the Premier League. Here are his first words.

On the dismissal of Graham Potter:

“I just spoke to him five minutes ago and he sends me his regards. These 24 hours have been difficult for all of us, for the staff, for our families and now we have to deal with the situation. He was really supportive, the call was more to say hello to you all. If I’m here right now, it’s because Graham and the club thought I was the right stage. I just try to help the club and be as professional as possible. But I think Graham Potter has done an amazing job here.”

On how players reacted to Potter’s sacking

“We have scheduled an afternoon session, so I’m going to see them now. The responsibility is ours, but we have to stay positive and focus on tomorrow’s game. This is the energy with which we work. They will also be sad because they know the level of human being that Graham is. I will take responsibility as I have since day one and then I will expect them to be by our side and supporting us

On the line-up against Liverpool:

“I don’t have to give Liverpool any hints. I saw the match against Aston Villa. We dominated the match but we lost. There were a few mistakes but I think overall it was a good performance. We had a lot of chances so I’ll try to keep that as close as possible.”
