BBL MBC loses 100-104 after extra time in Ludwigsburg

The Syntainics MBC basketball players suffered their first defeat in the second game under coach Ingo Freyer. The team from Weißenfels lost on Wednesday after catching up with MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg, fifth in the table, only in extra time with 100:104 (92:92, 50:63). Despite the defeat, the Central Germans still have a four-point lead over the relegation zone. Prentiss Hubb (19) had the largest share in the home side’s 18th win of the season. Charles Callison (26) scored the most points for the guests.

The guests didn’t get going at all at first. After being 10:12 behind (5th), Ludwigsburg made a 12:2 run to 22:14 (7th) and extended the lead to 41:25 (12th). The hosts drew on this cushion well into the third quarter. Despite being 16 points behind, the team from Weißenfels never gave up and gradually fought their way through 71:78 (30th) to 84:87 (36th) and managed to equalize 92:92 through Callison. In the extra time, the hosts then had the staying power and made the decision after the narrow 100:99 lead of the Weißenfelser with five points in a row.
