The economic situation of Barça is quite critical. Weighed down by too large a payroll, forced to be supervised by La Liga, the Catalans could not even validate the extension of Gavi’s contract. An episode which also led to an appeal from Elche since the young talent had his license withdrawn and should not have participated in the last league match between the two teams.

Pending a court decision, the Blaugranas would, in any case, have no other choice but to downsize the workforce this summer in order to be able to recruit. Which complicates in passing a potential return of Lionel Messi, as football director Mateu Alemany explained on Spanish television, even if the leaders leave the door open. One thing is certain, some players will pay the price, even those with great potential like Ansu Fati.

Towards a departure from Fati?

Since the World Cup, the La Roja winger has started only five times and has only played a combined 23 minutes in the last two Clasicos. A situation which had also prompted his father Bori to rant in the press, explaining that he was “very angry with the club” : ” I don’t mind if they give it a minute, two minutes or three minutes, he said at the end of March. The attackers who are there are phenomenal, but we are talking about Ansu Fati, from the Spanish national team, he is not just any boy.

Under contract with FC Barcelona until 2027, Fati could be one of the collateral victims of the club’s financial situation, claims The Team. The player trained at La Masia could even be the subject of a paid loan if we are to believe the daily, which explains that his agent Jorge Mendes is already prospecting in Europe. Still, his case would be internally divisive, with Fati being highly regarded by supporters. If the Guinea-Bissau native is put on the market, he shouldn’t be short of suitors.
