Badminton. The play-offs for the ES2B of Staffelfelden-Bollwiller

Before the last day of the regular championship, the Entente sportive de badminton Staffelfelden Bollwiller was in 4^e instead of his hen. The probability of ES2B qualifying was very low as there were so many factors for that not to happen.

The next generation of ASPTT Strasbourg, 1^re in the classification, being blocked by regulation (the same club cannot have a team in top12 and another in N1), the choice of the qualified would be made on the team which would point to the 2^nde place of the hen. This is the place occupied by the V3F (Village-Neuf), big favorite, which counts in its ranks Gaëtan Mittelheisser, former member of the French team and multiple champion of France, or the stainless Claudia Vogelgsang, multiple German champion.

At the 3^e place and only one small point from V3F, we found the formation of Val de Morteau, also followed by a small point by… the ES2B!

Three contenders in a handkerchief therefore… The scenario for ES2B to pass in front of the other two formations imposed a defeat for V3F, and the same, or even at best a draw for Morteau. And the improbable happened, Morteau was held in check by a Red Star Mulhouse, last in the standings, who was playing his survival in N2. The V3F had to face the ES2B…

The meeting had barely started when Claudia Vogelgsang announced her retirement through injury. This twist of fate penalized the V3F team a little more, weakened by absences, increasing the chances of qualification for the ES2B which was inexorably taking off. The planets were aligned, with a clear 7-1 victory for ES2B and the qualification acquired.

“It was an unusual season”, commented enthusiastically the president Philippe Risser. “From the start, we had to do without Alexandre Erny, victim of a fractured malleolus during the summer holidays. We also had to deal with the absences of Romane Leprince, taken by her studies. And one of Romane’s replacements, Maryana, is Belarusian. For her, travel is complicated because of the international measures taken against Russia and its allies. All this earned us a few penalties… And there, on the last day, we are fully complete for the first time and manage to snatch qualification for the play-offs, it’s just extraordinary! »

The play-offs will take place in Grenoble on May 6 and 7.
