South Korea squad

28 players, including 19 players and 9 coaching staff, will participate in the tournament.

Ahn Se-young, Kim Ga-eun, Shim Yu-jin, and Jeon Hyuk-jin, all of whom are in singles, will all go straight to the finals without going through the group round.

‘Shuttlecock Genius’ Ahn Se-young will face Malaysia’s Jinwei Koh in the first round, and will not meet Akane Yamaguchi, who received the number 1 seed, before the bracket finals. Ahn Se-young showed the dignity of bringing her women’s singles champion to Korea after her 27-year hiatus with her win at the 2023 Jeon Young Open held in England last month. Thanks to this momentum and atmosphere, it will be interesting to see if she can win her gold medal at the Asian Championships as well.

Ahn Se-young, who competed in singles, was not the only one who performed well at the 2023 Jeonyeong Open. In the women’s doubles, Kim So-young and Gong Hee-yong won the championship, and Baek Hana-Lee So-hee lost to the ‘King Kong’ duo in the finals and achieved runner-up. In addition, Seo Seung-jae and Chae Yoo-jung, who competed in mixed doubles, also finished runner-up, and the Korean national team finished the tournament with excellent results.
