Two people were reported in Naples after being caught walking around the streets of the Neapolitan capital respectively armed with baseball bats and knives. They were discovered by the agents of the General Prevention Office, during the normal patrolling of the roads for the control of the territory. The two were stopped in two different episodes that occurred within a short time of each other. First, the cops stopped a 39-year-old Neapolitan with a police record, who was in via Sopramuro (not far from Porta Nolana) with a switchblade 15 centimeters long. Then it was the turn of a 26-year-old Neapolitan, who was in his own car with two other people on board. The 26-year-old, who was driving the car, was on Via Giuseppe Cotronei in Vomero, he was found in possession of a baseball bat of about 60 centimeters, immediately placed under seizure. Both were reported for carrying weapons or offensive objects.

Incidents of this kind are becoming more and more frequent, throughout Naples. Often, however, there are more and more kids going around armed: just a few days ago, in the streets of the Neapolitan nightlife and in particular between Chiaia and Mergellina (already the scene of episodes of crime news in recent times), several minors had been arrested and identified, found in possession of switchblade knives with blades between 15 and 20 cm. Knives that, easily purchasable everywhere, are dangerously spreading like wildfire especially among the youngest, who are increasingly being caught carrying around armed and reported by the police.
