An audit confirmed the increase in payments from Barça to Negreira in the first “Laporta era”

Hours before Joan Laporta’s appearance to give her version of the “Negreira case”, El Mundo published that the KPMG auditor warned Fútbol Club Barcelona in autumn 2010 that Joan Laporta significantly increased payments to Enríquez Negreira. It is pointed out that the subscriptions to one of the companies of number two of the arbitrators, Nilsadhad experienced a notable increase. It is reported that the turnover of this company grew by 101.9% in one season. The audit indicates that the increase was based on the “recording of matches played by the Spanish under 21 team and by the senior team in the Confederations Cup held in South Africa.”

In the KPMG report, the auditor highlights the increase experienced by the Nilsad de Negreira company, which doubled its turnover in one year under the pretext of recording match videos. In such a way that for this service he went from receiving 245,000 euros a year to almost half a million. KPMG points out that the club maintained a “contract” based on “technical video advice”.

Joan Laporta will appear today at the Auditori 1899 of the Spotify Camp Nou, to give the pertinent explanations of the “Negreira case” after an investigation by the blaugrana entity. In mid-February, the Ser reported for the first time on the now well-known “Negreira case”, consisting of payments worth 7.3 million euros by the Barça club to the then vice-president of the Technical Committee of Referees (CTA), José María Enríquez Negreira, from 2001 to 2018.

On February 21, in an act at the Spotify Camp Nou, Laporta assured that the club was investigating what happened and that he would make an appearance. “We want to give all the explanations, it won’t be too late,” he said then. That same day he assured, regarding his first mandate -in which Negreira was paid-, that the “technical arbitration services” were made with the corresponding invoice and the “corresponding” documentary and video support.

“What has been done later is under investigation and when we have more information, we will communicate it. Shortly, in the shortest possible time, we will hold a press conference to explain the information we have about these years,” he announced, pointing to the Sandro Rosell and Josep Maria Bartomeu presidencies.

After almost two months of institutional silence, Laporta will explain the club’s version, his version as president affected in his first term, of a case that is being investigated by the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor for possible crimes of corruption in business in the sports field, unfair administration , misappropriation and falsehood in commercial document.
