Alison Jackson wins the ‘sprint’ the third edition of the women’s Paris-Roubaix

MADRID, 8 Abr. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Canadian cyclist Alison Jackson (EF Education-TIBCO-SVB) won the women’s Paris-Roubaix this Saturday, in its third edition, beating the Italian Katia Ragusa (Liv Racing TeqFind) and the Belgian in the final sprint. Marthe Truyen (Fenix-Deceuninck).

Jackson crossed the finish line first at the André Pétrieux Velodrome, finishing the race in 3:42:56 and coping well with the shock of seeing Dutchman Femke Markus (SD Worx) go down just as the winning contenders began to pick up speed.

It was the culmination of a day where the Dutchman Marianne Vos (Jumbo-Visma), one of the main figures in Roubaix, had a puncture with almost 60 km to go. Her comeback, to finish in the ‘top 10’, was a highlight along with a massive fall in the group of favorites at 37 km.

There were then 15 runners in the lead, with Jackson being the most powerful and the strongest of the break, which had the ultimate reward for her when she arrived at the Espace Charles Crupelandt area.
