‘Ajax made Ward a ‘very bad’ offer, Dutch ‘td’ difficult’

Good morning Eredivisie has released new details about the ricochet of Julian Ward’s arrival at Ajax. This week it became clear that the Englishman will not be the definitive successor to Marc Overmars, who has left for more than a year. There was also an update about why Ajax is mainly looking for foreign technical people.

Hans Kraaij jr. reported that Ward was ‘absolutely not’ impressed by Ajax’s offer. Financially, he was in a huge decline from his current commitment at Liverpool. Presenter Fresia Cousiño Arias did not fully agree with this and indicated that it was also about the time when Ward should start.

“Ajax wanted him to start right away, but Ward only wanted to come to Amsterdam from next season,” she corrected Kraaij’s words. The former football player understands little of the fact that Sven Mislintat is now coming into the picture. Kraaij: “He ‘discovered’ Robert Lewandowski and Ousmane Dembélé at Borussia Dortmund. I know people with a white stick and a red flag who had also discovered those two.” Marc van Hintum, who was also present, indicated when asked that he did not know Mislintat from the scouting world.

Dutch technical director

Kraaij thinks that Ajax can look around much better in the Netherlands for a new technical director. That was checked by Hélène Hendriks with a number of people from Ajax, but that is not that easy, she explained later in the broadcast. “A lot of Dutch former players who are connected to an agency. If they go to Ajax, they have to say goodbye to that.” According to insiders at Ajax, that would make it more difficult to opt for a Dutch force.
