Agen is almost there

Agen won 12-38 in Aurillac at the start of the 28th day of Pro D2, and thus took a big step towards the final stages.

Agen in the final phase of Pro D2, it’s almost as if it was done! Thanks to its 12-38 victory at Aurillac at the start of the 28th day, the SUA now has a twelve-point lead over Provence, seventh and first non-qualifying. It would therefore take a disaster not to see the former Top 14 resident in the play-offs, and second place directly qualifying for the semi-finals is even still accessible (three points behind Grenoble). If it was the Cantal players who opened the scoring in the 14th minute on a penalty from Marc Palmier, it was Agen who scored the first try of the game five minutes later by his third line Matthieu Bonnet, at the foot of the left post, after a long playing time and passes from left to right then from right to left while advancing (3-7).

The SUA increased the addition in the 26th minute thanks to another third row, Arnaud Duputs, after a carried ball (3-14). Palmier, still on penalty, then allowed the score not to be too heavy for his team when returning to the locker room (9-14, mt). On resumption, the Aurillac opener handed his team to -2 (12-14, 43rd). But the business of the Cantal club got tough in the 47th with the red card inflicted on the third row Mosa’ati Moala for a dangerous tackle on Loris Zarantonello.

Agen takes advantage of the gifts

A numerical superiority which Agen took advantage of to score a third try, by scrum half Sonatane Takulua, who found the interval after a maul (12-24, 56th). The situation got even worse for Aurillac, with the yellow card for Didier Tison for a collapsed maul. At 15 against 13, Agen widened the gap on a penalty try in the 64th (12-31), then nine minutes from the siren, hooker Mike Sosene-Feagai concluded the Agen score with a new try on a ball carried. It is therefore a five-point victory for the SUA, which could qualify for the final stages on Friday. As for the Aurillac players, they have nothing more to fear or to hope for this season and can already think of the holidays.
