María Yulieth Pérez and Luisa Fernanda Valero were reported with two medals for Quindío in the first valid of the National Senior Badminton Championship, which was held in the municipality of Yumbo, Valle del Cauca.
Pérez won the silver medal in the individual modality and, together with Valero, the bronze medal in the women’s doubles, in the qualifying contest for the XXII National Sports Games Eje Cafetero and Valle del Cauca 2023.
Hugo Morales, local badminton coach, indicated that “we were in competition for three days with the best exponents in the country. The experience for Quindío was good in the sporting context, but we need to be able to reach the results we want. The men’s team was furthest from the podium, with a sixth place for Giovanny Pulgarín and a fifth for Luis Fernando Castro».
The Quindians will return to Yumbo next weekend to face the second of four valid qualifiers planned, with a view to the national fairs that should begin on November 11 of this year.
The third and fourth valid ones will be held in the department of Quindío, a locality that our badminton players will try to take advantage of to consolidate their qualification for the 2023 National Sports Games.
