A multi-purpose field has been inaugurated in Carlantino

The new multipurpose field of Carlantino was inaugurated on Saturday 22 April. The structure was built thanks to the 100 thousand euros that the Puglia Region financed through the ‘Por Puglia Fesr Fse 2014-2020-Axis IX’, which have the objective of “promoting social inclusion, the fight against poverty and all forms of discrimination” through “interventions aimed at strengthening the sports facilities of the municipal administrations”.

“It is a historic day for Carlantino because the creation of a multipurpose field, in a small town like ours, is of vital importance given that the closest sports infrastructures are located in the cities of Foggia, Lucera or Campobasso more than 40 km away” declared the mayor of Carlantino, Graziano Coscia. “Moreover, the educational and social function of sport and all motor activities for the protection of psycho-physical well-being and the development of inclusive social relationships is widely recognized. Creating new interests and recovering lost ones can prevent the abandonment of the territory that constitutes one of the first causes of degradation of the country”.

The new multi-purpose field was created thanks to the functional recovery of the old tennis court. The interventions were aimed at the reconstruction of the playing field, with the creation of a synthetic grass surface. The lighting system with LED projectors and the external arrangement of the area are also new. Great attention was then paid to the removal of architectural barriers, in order to ensure their use also by people with disabilities, in accordance with the provisions of current legislation on the subject.

Finally, the steps were arranged through the original reconfiguration of the same with concrete and metal mesh, with the final covering of the seats in Apricena stone. The sports that can be practiced are five-a-side football, tennis, basketball and volleyball. “The area on which we intervened, that of the old tennis court, is located in a peripheral area of ​​the town but close to the primary and secondary school and is the only sports area in the town” said the designer and construction manager, Maria Maggio. “For this reason it was necessary to provide, with suitable measures and specific interventions aimed at its redevelopment, to return this area to the daily life of citizens”.

The company that carried out the work was Giuseppe D’Amelio’s ‘Tecnocad’. The event, organized in collaboration with the Pro Loco of Carlantino, was attended by rookie players from Polisportiva Gambatesa and Asd Celenza Valfortore who gave life to a friendly match.
