30 more yards in 3 months… an overseas approach

To gain more than 30 yards with his wood 1 and this, in the space of 3 months, this is the objective that Bertrand Lardon sets when he helps golfers in their physical preparation. Without pretension, without exaggeration either, this physical trainer specialized in golf and tennis has created a method (the Power Swing) so that his clients gain in power and, at the same time, in distance.

We had been talking with this overseas specialist based in Nice, on the Côte d’Azur, for a few months. With a few clients among Quebec golfers, our paths on social networks had crossed. And as we were just going to discover some golf courses in this beautiful region of France, we had agreed to play at least a game together.

Throughout this part, we exchange, of course, and we learn that, coming from a family of athletes (his parents flirted with the Olympic Games), Bertrand Lardon gave his all to professional tennis. After the competition, his university training led him to become a physical trainer.

“Regularly, he says, to bring us together as a family, my parents, my brother and I, we met for a game of golf. That’s how I got hooked on golf and decided to apply to golfers the methods I developed to help tennis players.

After the game, he explains the Power Swing method in more detail:

“It’s a method that is based on two elements: biomechanics and my expertise as a physical trainer. Using biomechanics, I am able to identify problems my clients have with generating speed, such as a lack of amplitude or a lack of acceleration.

“Then I analyze their physical condition to identify areas for improvement to address the issue such as abdominal strength, hip mobility or back issues. Thereafter, I set priorities to reach our goal of gaining about 30 meters in drive in 3 months, while being careful to prevent injuries related to the acceleration of the gesture.

“Finally, we use a mobile application to follow and modify the program every week for the 3 months, in order to adjust throughout the method to guarantee the success of the objectives.

“Unlike the common trend of replicating the swing of the best players, my method focuses on analyzing individual movements to understand what works and what doesn’t, before making the necessary modifications to achieve the goals of each person.”

With him, we are therefore dealing with a coach who can be consulted online. It is also in this way, either with its application, that it reaches its Quebec customers.
