1-0. The Argentine Fara restores tranquility to Emelec

Guayaquil (Ecuador), Apr 20 (EFE).- Argentine defender Cain Fara converted the goal on Thursday for Emelec’s 1-0 win over Huracán, which was worth restoring peace of mind to the Ecuadorian team on the second date of Group B of the South American Cup

The goal on a pitch affected by the rain was scored by Fara at minute 17 and served to appease the storm of criticism of the Argentine coach Miguel Rondelli and the players, who linked four defeats.

The pressure was partially released with the goal converted by Argentine defender Fara, who fished a cross from a corner kick inside the opponent’s box and beat the goalkeeper with a header.

Huracán, who had just beaten Guaraní 4-1 on the first date of Group B, recovered from the contrast and began to control the actions, but his shots went close to the goal and in others they were controlled by goalkeeper Pedro Ortiz.

One of the players who has had difficulties adapting since he arrived for the current season at Emelec, Christian Cruz, left the field due to an injury and Bryan Carabalí entered in his place, at minute 41.

The rain with which the game began intensified for the second half, which is why complications in the circulation of the ball and physical mishaps began to appear, as in the case of the goalkeeper Ortiz who, after an interruption, managed to continue in the match.

The clearest opportunity for Emelec to increase the score was for Bryan Carabalí, who almost took advantage of an error at the start between the goalkeeper Lucas Chávez with his defenders, but the muddy nature of the field prevented the attacker from being able to convert, at minute 66 .

In the last 20 minutes, the transfer of the ball was more difficult due to the accumulation of water in some sectors of the field.

After 80 minutes, Emelec had two clear chances, but the poor conditions on the field prevented attackers Jhon Jairo Sánchez and Brian Angulo from getting the ball into the Argentine goal.

For the third date they will face each other next May, Huracán will face Danubio and Guanarí with Emelec.
