????Houston Texans have the knife and cheese in their hands, but they’re dying to mess up

Imagine having control of destiny in your hands. After going through difficult times, you can make a choice that will change your future. She is gone, then; but not by chance, but by your fault. That’s the story of the Houston Texans. After being a pitiful franchise for the entire season, it achieved the feat of winning the last game in a completely disposable game, losing possession of the first overall pick in the upcoming Draft.

Now, with that pick in hand for the Carolina Panthers, everything is more difficult for Houston. It seems little, but it is not. Recent rumors indicate that Young is the only quarterback prospect who truly delights the Texas franchise. As he is increasingly painted blue and black, however, the narrative that Nick Caserio will not select CJ Stroud or another passer for the second overall pick intensifies every minute.

Since it is not possible to change past mistakes, the question remains. What’s best for Houston?

Is it right so right?

When the Texans signed DeMeco Ryans and gave their new coach carte blanche in free agency to rebuild the team to his liking, we (rightly) praised him here. Why, then, does everything now become so uncertain? After all, for the first time in a long time, the franchise seems to be heading in the right direction. Isn’t the vote of confidence worth it?

After the Draft, maybe. Before, no. You see, Houston has a very rare chance on its hands. Even though he screwed up, he still has an excellent rookie in Stroud. I understand personal preference, but it should be noted that CJ has all the tools to be the holder of any franchise since day 1. The Texans, even, despite the second worst campaign in 2023, are not a dark team to the point of dynamiting a freshman. The offensive line is solid and the attack has interesting pieces, being a favorable ground for a new planting.

The right thing, then, was to select the most ready passer, putting himself in a position to quickly return to fighting for something more in the conference. With another top pick this year – #12 from the Cleveland Browns – and belonging to a messed up division, the potential to be relevant again is leveraged. But DeMeco and Caserio apparently don’t think it’s that clear. Even more so when there is a possible alternative that can work very well.
