Yadier Molina’s position on the elimination of Puerto Rico from the World Classic

Puerto Rico experienced hours of great anguish after Edwin Díaz’s injury, which is why they faced the game against Mexico in the quarterfinals of the World Classic with the premise of advancing on his behalf. However, it was the Aztecs who prevailed 5-4 in a match that for manager Yadier Molina was worthy for all involved.

“It was an intense game and we started well on offense. I think both teams played very well. It was one of those games that either team could be victorious,” Molina told MLB.com in Spanish.

«I feel happy for the group of players we have, they are professionals and stars who left their skin on the field. It is something that excites one. Anyone can come here and back off being the horses they are, but they pitched in for their country and I’m happy with their performance,” he added.

Puerto Rico had left the favorite Dominican Republic on the way, but despite starting the match against Mexico with a ‘Back to Back’ from Javy Báez and Eddie Rosario, they failed to do more damage.

“I learned a lot. It’s a tournament full of emotions and good baseball with the best teams in the world, and doing the performance we did… It wasn’t the result we wanted, but I feel very proud of the guys for the way they played and the way they represented to Puerto Rico,” Molina said.
