The United States emerged victorious from an incredible duel against Venezuela and thus obtained their ticket to the semi-finals at the World Baseball Classic on Saturday evening.
The American squad trailed by two runs heading into the eighth inning. A grand slam by Philadelphia Phillies star Trea Turner, however, restored the lead to the United States, which closed the door in the next two engagements. Representatives of Uncle Sam thus won 9 to 7.
The Americans will face Cuba in the semi-finals. This confrontation will be presented on TVA Sports starting at 7 p.m. on Sunday.
