At the Claude Delvincourt college in Dieppe, there was first the hand in the hat and then the fortnight of Olympic and Paralympic sport.

Place now at theWomen’s Olympism.

This is the third project of Frédérique Pelletier, physical education and sports teacher at Collège Claude-Delvincourt which materializes.

Helped by Céline Pineau, Angélique Gréboval and Bérénice Normand, she devoted many hours to succeed in turning an idea into a unique activity in the Dieppe establishment.

“Alice Milliat inspired me”

She looks back on the genesis of her project.

It was Alice Milliat’s story that inspired me. A rower and very involved in rowing, she asked the International Olympic Committee in 1919 to include women’s athletics events in the following Olympic Games. This was refused to him and it even caused a general outcry in the sporting world. Alice Milliat then fought for twenty years and this led to considerable progress for the place of women in sport. It is in the same spirit that I wanted to create Women’s Olympism within Delvincourt College.

They hadn’t been able to come to college during the last operation because of health constraints, but they are happy to be present next week.

Work was done upstream to become familiar with the subject.

In addition, the young Arquais created a large pyramid illustrating in particular the percentage of women over the Olympic Games.

Concerning the college students of Delvincourt, they will therefore discover sports through workshops.

This action is planned for the whole of next week (except Wednesday) with the initiation to two sports in the morning and two others in the afternoon with each time, information given for know the place of women in these disciplines.

Among the sports presented, we have voluntarily chosen strongly gendered sports such as boxing, rugby, wrestling… Sports which, when we talk about them, we immediately think of being practiced by men, but much less often by women.
