Wimbledon: Boris Becker raves about Andy Murray – Brit as the secret favorite for the Grand Slam tournament

Although Murray missed his first ATP title since 2019 in the Qatar final against Daniil Medvedev, his performance was reminiscent of his form before his hip surgery.
In his duels on the way to the final, the 35-year-old showed stamina and mental strength, defeating his opponents in tough three-set thrillers. Among them was Alexander Zverev, who had to admit defeat to Murray in the round of 16 (6: 7, 6: 2, 5: 7).

“I didn’t think that he would come back so physically strong after his hip surgery,” Becker said Eurosport impressed.

“The way he brings his opponents to their knees, mostly over three sets, while playing good tennis, even against Daniil Medvedev in the final – it’s incredible where the Brit has made it again,” he underlined his fascination with Murray.

Wimbledon: Becker trusts Murray a lot

Should Murray maintain his current level, there are no limits. “And if he continues like this, I’m looking forward to Wimbledon,” Becker looked to the future.

“If he continues to do this in the next tournaments and continues to win matches, then he will be at eye level again for his favorite surface – and that is grass,” predicted the Eurosport expert.

In 2013 and 2016, Murray was already able to triumph on the holy lawn of Wimbledon.
