“We will always be on Vara’s side to avoid the demolition of Valdecañas”

he president of the PP of Extremadura, María Guardiola, stressed that her party does not share the fact that the Marina Isla de Valdecañas complex has to be demolished and, in this sense, they will be “always at the side” of the president of the Board since its formation, Guillermo Fernández Vara, “to try to avoid it (the demolition) by all means.”

Thus, after stressing that the position of the Extremaduran PP in this matter is very clear and has repeated it on many occasions, he reiterated that “in no case do we agree with the demolition of Valdecañas.”

After acknowledging that the possible demolition seems an aberration to the PP, and that it would be “the consequence of the legislative and legal bungles” of the PSOE in Extremadura, he stressed that Valdecañas should not be demolished, “not only because it generates wealth and jobs, there is an environmental environment that has been created from Valdecañas. Also because it would mean a very important economic hack in the region at a cost of more than 150 million euros.

“Therefore, we do not agree that Valdecañas has to be brought down and we will always be by Mr. Fernández Vara’s side to try to avoid it by all means,” he concluded.

Meanwhile, the spokesperson for the PSOE of Extremadura, Soraya Vega, affirmed that the recent pronouncement of the Constitutional Court Prosecutor’s Office (TC) that supports the demolition of the Marina Isla de Valdecañas complex and requests that the appeal for amparo promoted by the Junta be dismissed “It is no surprise, but it is one more procedural step.”

After adding that said pronouncement “is something that the Constitutional Court will have to take into account when making its decisions”, he stressed that in reality for the PSOE “the most important thing is to work so that Valdecañas is not demolished, something that the people of Extremadura also claim, especially those who are directly affected in the area.

At this point, he was also asked on behalf of the PSOE what the PP is proposing to avoid demolition, since said party “says that it does not want Valdecañas to be demolished either but on the other hand it votes against a rule that precisely It allows us to move towards that, towards Valdecañas not being demolished”, alluding to the rule on the legalization of certain ZEPA zones in the region recently approved in the Assembly only with the vote in favor of the absolute socialist majority.

Finally, United for Extremadura will transfer to the Constitutional Court the law of zepas approved a few weeks ago in the Assembly with the votes in favor of the absolute majority of PSOE, since in their opinion it is “unconstitutional and skips numerous European directives.”

This was announced by the formation’s spokesperson, Irene de Miguel, at a press conference, before the pronouncement of the Constitutional Court Prosecutor’s Office (TC) that supports the demolition of the Marina Isla de Valdecañas complex. However, she did not detail how she intends to do it.

De Miguel considered that Fernández Vara “has to assume once and for all that he has lost in his stubbornness to make something legal that is manifestly illegal, such as the luxury development of Valdecañas.”

“How much money, how much effort and, what is worse, how much discredit of the institutions this stubbornness of Mr. Vara is costing Extremadura,” said the spokesperson for United for Extremadura, who also alluded to the legal uncertainty that it generates.

De Miguel considered that Valdecañas “is the paradigm of urban development, and how corrupt developers agree with politicians to make custom laws” for illegal issues such as this urbanization, he reaffirmed.
