“We played a game to win”

MADRID, 14 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Real Madrid basketball coach, Chus Mateo, has assured that his team played “a game to win” this Tuesday in Istanbul, where they lost to Anadolu Efes (90-89) on the twenty-fourth day of the regular phase of the Euroleague, and has been satisfied with the “effort” of his players, who fought “until the end.”

“We had a game to win, we played well. We had a higher joint rating than them but they scored one more point. In the third quarter they made a lot of three-pointers and shot very well, we weren’t hard enough or close enough to them; they added 35 points and it is something that we cannot allow”, declared after the meeting.

In addition, the Madrid coach believes that they started the game “well” and “in the right way”. “They began to distance themselves in the third quarter by scoring many points. Then we made a great effort and fought until the end. We scored more points out of two and they scored more points than us and that’s basketball,” he said.
