Vinicius, summoned to testify by a judge in Palma for the racist insults he suffered during the Real Mallorca-Real Madrid match

A court in Palma has summoned to testify vinicius for the Racist insults who suffered in Son Moix on February 5 during the match between Real Mallorca and Real Madrid. The Brazilian soccer player must appear as injured party on April 4 in the framework of the investigation opened in an investigative court against a 21-year-old man, a resident of Palma, for an alleged crime against moral integrity. According to the police investigation, he called the athlete a “fucking monkey”. The suspect must also appear before the judge as a defendant that same day. The State Commission against Violence, Racism, Xenophobia and Intolerance in Sport has proposed for him, in a parallel administrative procedure, a penalty of 4,000 euros.

In an order issued last Friday, to which Diario de Mallorca, from the Prensa Ibérica group, has had access, the magistrate agreed to these proceedings after the complaint filed by LaLiga, to which Real Mallorca and the Prosecutor’s Office have joined. In the open judicial case there are several reports from the National Police, the LaLiga Integrity and Security Directorate and the Anti-Violence Commission on what happened in that match. These documents indicate that at minute 33 of the match, a DAZN camera -the platform that broadcast it- located at the southern end of Son Moix captured audio in which a fan was heard throwing “racist and vexatious” insults to the footballer. “Vinicius, monkey”, “you are a fucking monkey”, shout. The National Police opened an investigation and compared the sound captured with the recordings of the security cameras of the Organizational Control Unit (UCO). In this way, the audio and images were synchronized to identify the fan, who turned out to be a 21-year-old resident of Palma and partner of Real Mallorca.

Following the complaint filed by LaLiga, an investigative court in Palma opened proceedings for an alleged crime against moral integrity. The judge in charge of the matter has summoned to declare the young man as investigated and the Real Madrid player as harmed. Both must appear on April 4, half an hour apart. The soccer player will do it through videoconference, according to the providence. The judge also demands that Real Mallorca and the National Police report whether the defendant belongs to an ultra group and whether there are other actions against him by the club’s security service.
