Requena, who represents Cobresal in Chile’s top league, helped his team beat Colo Colo 3-1 in the ninth round match.

Although it initially appeared that Colo Colo’s goal was not in danger, it soon became clear that goalkeeper Brian Cortes had made a mistake. He had left the goal and the ball bounced over his head and into the goal. In addition, while chasing the ball, he still managed to stumble.

“TNT Sports Chile” reports that the goal was scored from a distance of 101 meters, which marks a new Guinness record. The current record belongs to Tom King, who in 2021 sent the ball into the goal from a distance of 96.01 meters. It happened in England’s fourth strongest league, according to CNN.

“I asked the manager of the club, Juan Silva, if the application for the record would really be submitted and he said, ‘Of course,'” Requena told Radio Bio Bio.

The Guinness World Records organization told CNN that an official application has not yet been submitted.
