Dutch defender Virgil van Dijk admitted that the 0-4 defeat at the hands of France in Euro 2024 qualification was a crushing blow.

The Dutch were helpless at the start of the match when two goals nested against Jasper Cillessen when the game had only been running for eight minutes. According to Van Dijk, this was the beginning of the destruction of the Netherlands.

“If a team is 0-2 down after seven minutes, of course it will be very difficult. What a bad start we have here.”

“We have to look at that of course. It’s difficult to analyze what happened immediately after the game ended, but after seven minutes [kebobolan dua gol]the match seemed to be over,” said Van Dijk quoted from the Mirror.

Van Dijk later admitted that after a poor start by conceding two goals, the Netherlands never really recovered. The Orange Team continues to make mistakes.

“I don’t know if this defeat is the worst international match I have ever played. But for sure it is a heavy blow. We tried to come back after a bad start, but we didn’t succeed.”

“We lost too many balls and were too weak in duels. France really punished us,” said Van Dijk.

A 0-4 defeat to France made the Netherlands temporarily occupy the bottom position in Group B. However, the Netherlands had the opportunity to rise in a duel against Gibraltar on Monday (27/3) local time.
