Trae Young increasingly isolated in Atlanta?

Quin Snyder landed on the bench for the Atlanta Hawks, but that hasn’t dampened the noise around him so far. Trae Young. For several months, it seems that the All-Star point guard has not been unanimous within the franchise and that is an understatement. The incident with the previous coach, Nate McMillan, had revealed disagreements between Young, the coaching staff, the front office and some of his teammates.

According to Bill Reiter, of CBS Sports, the situation has not improved, quite the contrary. According to his sources, the relationship between Trae Young and the vast majority of his teammates is deleterious.

“In the locker room, it’s no secret that there is a significant disconnect between Young and almost all of his partners. He is not appreciated and the prevailing opinion is that he is not capable of to be a leader, to do what is expected of him and that the team will never achieve its goals until this problem is solved”.

Reiter posed the question of a Trae Young trade to GMs within the league and the story is pretty much the same everywhere. Nobody today is ready to pay the price that the Hawks would logically ask to part with him. Worse, one of them believes that it is “impossible to win with him”.

However, Trae Young is not solely responsible for the situation. Since participating in the Conference final in 2021, a power game has taken hold within the front office, with the relegation of sports boss Travis Schlenk, the appointment of Landry Fields as GM, then Kyle Korver as assistant GM, all overseen by Nick Ressler, the owner’s son, whose influence has been growing since last year.
