Thirty activities offered by “Yonne sport seniors” in 2023

From archery to caricature and parachute… “Yonne sport seniors” is back for an eleventh edition. The operation, spread over ten days, offers around thirty sporting and cultural activities to people aged 55 and over. At the initiative of the Department and the Conference of Funders of the Prevention of Loss of Autonomy (CNSA) of Yonne, it begins this Thursday, March 23, 2023 at the gymnasium of Charny-Orée-de-Puisaye and extends until October in several municipalities.

1,400 registered in 2022

For the regulars, the activities do not change with one exception, indicates Dominique Amaral, responsible for the sports activities of the department. “We bought equipment to improve each activity.” Petanque, badminton, pedal go-karts, relaxation, Nordic walking, blowpipes… Nearly thirty activities are offered and supervised by professionals. Activities that adapt to age (55 and over), but not only. “There are two kinds of public, those who are autonomous and those registered with the Ehpad. Depending on their physical condition and their pathology, they choose what they want”, explains Dominique Amaral.

It is possible to participate every day. In 2022, 1,400 people have tested. With a free and diverse choice, the organizers have one main objective. “We make sure that the registered participants discover as many things as possible so that they decide to do them in a club, afterwards. All the activities presented have an association in Yonne.”
