Things are going badly in the red zone: Ajaccio and Troyes beaten, hot situation in Angers, Montpellier gives itself some air

Nantes – Nice 2-2

As often lately, Nice has delivered a good copy, better than those of Nantes by sequence. Moreover, it was the Aiglons who struck first, at the very start of the match, through Terem Moffi (5th). The latter also split a decisive pass for Youssouf Ndayishimiye (71st), mounted from the rear to bring the surplus.

Except that, pushed by the Loire Brigade on this Sunday afternoon, the Canaries showed character. They equalized for the first time thanks to Moussa Sissoko (31st) on a serve from the inevitable Ludovic Blas. Then came back to 2-2 on a nice helmet shot from Mostafa Mohamed (88th), from a ball dropped from the right by Joao Victor. What make regret the penalty missed by Blas in the 35th. Didier Digard’s men are thus deprived of two points in a match within their reach but remain undefeated in their last eleven matches. Nantes remain seven points from the red zone.

  • What we remember : OGC Nice did not win this afternoon but continues to string together quality outings. A series of logical invincibility.

Ajaccio-Montpellier: 0-1

Ajaccio put on some intensity at the start of the first period, then at the start of the second. But apart from the intensity, the Corsicans had little to offer to animate this match and remained silent. The meeting really started when Stephy Mavididi and Elye Wahi entered on the hour mark to put some rhythm on the front of the Montpellier attack.

It was Wahy who freed the Pailladins with his tenth goal of the season. Thanks to a nice kick from Téji Savanier hit hard at the near post, he brushed the leather with his head to deceive Benjamin Leroy (68th). This will be the one and only goal of the afternoon. It is enough to make the happiness of Montpellier which breathes with a third victory in four matches. Ajaccio remains 18th.

  • What we remember : Ajaccio has intentions but is too weak offensively to hope for better.

Lorient-Troyes: 2-0

First in control, the Merlus logically opened the scoring thanks to Bamba Dieng, author of his second goal under the Breton colors. Well helped by a failed recovery from Adil Rami at the start of the action. Despite a little scare on a Trojan goal before half-time, canceled for an offside position, Lorient held their match well. However, Dieng’s exit at half-time through injury considerably reduced the attacking momentum of Régis Le Bris’ men.

ESTAC tried to take advantage of it and got some good chances. Rough and imprecise approaching the surface, Patrick Kisnobro’s men had a hard time worrying Vito Mannone. So much so that they ended up being punished by Stéphane Diarra on a cross from Yoann Cathline in added time. Troyes continues a tenth game without success. Lorient moved into eighth place, three points behind OL.

  • What we remember : Lorient no longer has the brilliance of its start to the season but retains a superiority in the game against some of the Ligue 1 teams.

Angers – Toulouse : 0-2

The nightmare continues for Angers. Toulouse was never really worried in this meeting and opened the scoring in the first period thanks to Mikkel Desler (37th). At 1-0, Angers were still alive and Farid El Melali showed good signs of activity in his right lane. But a few seconds after the start of the second period, Thijs Dallinga made the break (46th) on a serve from Brecht Dejaegere.

The break sowed anger in the ranks of Scoist supporters, who rained a few smoke bombs on Raymond Kopa’s lawn. One of the pyrotechnic devices also burned Paul Bernardoni’s nets, forcing the referee to temporarily stop the match. After which the score remained frozen at 2-0, despite White and Black who did not give up. But the lack of binder approaching the surface and the technical inaccuracies got the better of their offensive ambitions. Toulouse is still comfortably in the soft underbelly, in 11th place. Angers did not take advantage of the disappointments of Ajaccio and Troyes and remained dead last, 10 points from 19th.

  • What we remember : There are still the embers of a football revolt in Angers. But the quality is lacking to turn it into flame. The ongoing tensions at the club could end up extinguishing it.
