The XL Run, a committed student race

This Saturday, March 4, the Sports Office of the Excelia higher education group is organizing the first edition of the XL Run in La Rochelle. A solidarity sporting event that fights against student precariousness.

To act. Students belonging to the Excelia group are active in the fight against student insecurity. The Sports Office is organizing the XL Run for the first time this Saturday March 4 in La Rochelle. Two courses, 5 and 10 km, are on the program.

Fight against inequalities

It is an important project that is coming to fruition. “We wanted to create a brand new event that would reinforce the image and DNA of the Bureau des sports. In Brainstorming, we had the idea of organizing a solidarity race that fights against student precariousness because by discussing with our more or less close entourage, we realized that many students were in difficult conditions”. explains Naomie Conde, innovation project manager at the BDS. Difficulty finding accommodation, lack of money at the end of the month, students pay cash for the current inflation. The Office of Sports led an organization worthy of the name to make this first edition a success. “The sponsorship division took care of finding our partners and prizes to be won by the runners, the communication division took care of internal and external communication (flyers, posters, social networks, teasers, etc.) the innovation division, for which I am responsible, took care of the administrative management, the logistical and operational side of the event”, she expands.

In collaboration with the Association of the Student Foundation for the City (AFEV), the event hopes to bring together more than 200 people, even if the organizers only count 80 registered. Two races of 10 and 5 km are planned. “We wanted everyone to find their interest in it, the 5 for people who do not run or little and the 10 for people who want to challenge themselves. There are not necessarily any difficulties on the course. It is located by the sea 100% pedestrian”, says Naomie Conde. The main objectives of the XL Run are numerous. Among them, fighting against social and educational inequalities, raising awareness among the public and decision-makers and mobilizing students in solidarity commitment programs. All donations collected will be donated to the AFEV.
