Paralyzed and without clear answers. This is how the Max Toledo Coliseum is located, which was being readapted for the discipline of badminton, one of the sports that was excluded and that wants to return to the list of disciplines for the I Bolivarian Youth Games, which Sucre must organize from November to December 9.

“We are still concerned about not having a response from our authorities, we hope that this week we will have a call to sit down,” said Cindy Avendaño, coach of the badminton national teams, yesterday, during a visit to the Max Toledo Coliseum.

Accompanied by some municipal councilors – who last month requested a Written Report Request (PIE) from the Municipal Executive – the Chuquisaqueña coach expressed her concern about the lack of continuity in the sports scene, paralyzed for months.

“This coliseum is finished, only a few details are missing to be able to adapt it,” commented councilor Melissa Cortez, who reported that in the PIE on February 14, the Mayor’s Office responded that “the project is 93% physically advanced,” however, it is “paralyzed due to lack of registration of budget certification.”

“Only 7% is missing,” said Cortez, reporting that Bs 131,568 thousand are required to complete the infrastructure. “We urge the Executive authorities so that they can take this discipline into account, see how to guarantee resources,” the councilor requested.

Although in the consultation on the set-up of the stage, the Mayor’s Office responded that “it is projected to conclude and deliver it in the present administration”, Cortez said that to date no further details were available and that in the coming days “we are going to make an Oral Report Request as an emergency so that the following week the Municipal Executive can respond and what has been done to date.”

In the event that the Max Toledo Coliseum is not completed and delivered for the Bolivarian fair, the municipal racket complex will be the only legacy in terms of infrastructure left by the international event.

Badminton is one of the sports that were initially included in the 1st Bolivarian Youth Games, but this year it was excluded due to lack of financial resources, as explained at the time by the general director of the Organizing Committee, Renzo Eyzaguirre. The leadership of this sport is carrying out local and national efforts so as not to be left out of the multidisciplinary contest.
