The Nets go back to the Celtics and drop them from the leadership in the NBA

Newly signed Mikal Bridges was the star of the Nets with 38 points on a 13/22 stat from the field.

The forward, who arrived in Brooklyn in February as part of the mega-trade that sent Kevin Durant to the Phoenix Suns, also added 10 rebounds and 4 assists.

Celtics leader Jayson Tatum had 22 points and 13 rebounds on the day he celebrated his 25th birthday.

The Celtics started the game strong and sealed the first quarter with a 37-15 lead.

The locals had a 28-point advantage in the first half but the Nets, sixth in the East, recovered in spectacular fashion thanks to Bridges and forward Cam Johnson, also from the Suns, who finished with 20 points.

The Celtics did not fit such a bulky comeback since 2019, at the hands of the Clippers.

With two losses in the last three games, Boston ceded the East lead to Giannis Antetokounmpo’s Milwaukee Bucks.
