The Kroos brothers mock The Best: “It’s a joke”

Toni Kroos and his brother Felix usually cover all kinds of current affairs on the podcast which they share called Einfach mal luppen and this week’s episode revolved around the delivery of the FIFA The Best awards. While the Real Madrid midfielder opted for a more cautious tone, the already retired Felix charged hard against the gala and even went so far as to dismiss it as “a joke”, something with which Toni agreed given the lack of prominence for Real Madrid players.

It was Felix who began by stressing that football is a team sport and that, therefore, individual performance should not be emphasized above the group. “In the end, there are always many players who would deserve it,” Felix explained, adding that only last season “there was no doubt about the winner. It was clear that Benzema would win it after everything he had done, ”he stressed.

It was then that the youngest of the Kroos threw the delivery on the ground and He called it a “joke, it’s a joke”, causing Toni to say the following: “That’s why you looked for Real Madrid in vain at the gala. I also boycotted it. I didn’t get any prizes.” It seems that this type of tribute, little by little, is not only causing the rejection of a large part of the fans, but also of the very protagonists of this sport: the soccer players.

Regarding the choice of Dibu Martínez as the best goalkeeper of the year, Felix also spoke openly: “What was a joke for me was that the goalkeeper from Argentina was also chosen as the best goalkeeper, although nobody knew him before the World Cup and they only gave him the prize for the World Cup. I didn’t even think he was really good. He had one or two good saves, especially in the final, but he didn’t make the best impression as a goalkeeper,” he said.

The opinions of the two brothers were different regarding Leo Messi, who won his seventh award as a result of winning the World Cup with the albiceleste. “In World Cup years, the championship is always a key point regarding the prizes. There he was the most outstanding player. That’s why it wasn’t a surprise, right?” Toni clarified, to which Felix replied: “He may be the best player in the World Cup, but this is about a whole year. So I didn’t think it was ‘outstanding’ enough to be.”

From Felix’s point of view, Messi is not the best of all time either, as was said after he ended up adding the World Cup to his enviable record. “These types of debates are for the garbage”, were the words of the former Union Berlin. And he added: “There may be the best of a time, but not the best of all time.” A statement that Toni himself did not want to comment on further.
