For weeks, fans of Italian manga and anime envied famous and not famous Orientals who, on their social networks, cheered on the animated film The First Slam Dunk, taken from the spokon cult comic about basketball Takehiko Inoue all the rage in Asian cinemas. Finally, comes the announcement of Anime Factory, a label owned by Plaion Pictures, which will distribute The First Slam Dunk in Italy. There is not yet a precise date for the cartoon produced by Toei but it is almost there, while in Japan it was released last December 2022, 26 years after the last animated series taken from the manga by Slam Dunk, one of the most read ever with 170 million copies sold worldwide. The feature film was very popular at home, earning ten billion yen (over 74 million euros) and even surpassing Avatar – The Way of Water.
Thirty years after the debut of the manga Inoue signed the direction, story and screenplay of the film shot in Cgi and 2D, the guarantee that this will keep the original spirit of the work intact. Here is the official synopsis for the movie it will be centered on Ryota Miyagia small and very fast former thug who plays point guard on the Shohoku basketball team:
Ryota Miyagi and basketball have always been one. His love for this sport was transmitted to him by his older brother Sota, who died in an accident at sea when Ryota was still small. Ryota is the point guard of Shohoku, a team that earned a place in the national tournament as the representative of Kanagawa Prefecture despite being an unknown high school. Ryota is ready, together with his teammates, to face the “unbeatable” Sannoh, the champion team of the national tournament.
