The Elite take place in Grenoble

End of this first day of competition at the Alpexpo where the Elite archers took part in the qualifications and continued with the matches. At the end of an afternoon where the favorites did not disappoint, tomorrow’s finalists are now known.

In recurve bow, as expected, Thomas Chirault (Clermont-Ferrand) got its competition off to a flying start. 1st in qualifying with 595 points, he won his first match of the day with a score of 6-0. William Pike (Buc), the Clermontois ends up winning 6 to 4 and defeatsAnthony Barbier (Brienon sur Armançon) in the semi-finals. We will therefore be entitled to a remake of last year’s final in Vittel, a poster Thomas Chirault – Bryan Bedrossian (Cannes Mandelieu) which already promises to be thrilling. On the female side, Audrey Machinet (Arcis sur Aube) and Louise Boot (Brienon sur Armançon) will compete for the gold medal.

Thomas Chirault (Clermont-Ferrand), 1st in men’s recurve qualifications
“I’m happy with today, I achieved very good qualifications with a possible first series at 300, it allowed me to challenge myself and finish with 595, which is more than correct! After that, we went on quite a bit with all the matches, I had to draw on my reserves but I managed to hold on for the duration. There is the same final as last year which is looming against Bryan Bedrossian, who should have been one of my teammates at the European Indoor Championship which was cancelled. I’m in a hurry, we’re going to give the best of ourselves. I have a little revenge to take and I’m not going to let anything!”

In compound bow, Nicolas Girard (Saint Martin de Crau) was impressive, coming close to the perfect score in qualifying. Well launched after scoring 599 points, the world No. 2 makes his way to the final where he will find Benjamin Berets (Le Lavandou). In women, Alyssia Chambraud (Achères), takes revenge for the Youth Championship by eliminating the 1st in qualifying Lea Girault (Chauny) in the quarter-finals on a shoot-off, before winning his semi-final against Marie Saliou (Saint Avertin). She will therefore face the defending champion Sophie Dodemont (Fontenay sous Bois) this Saturday.

In barebow, funny afternoon for David Jackson (L’Union), who finished last in qualifying, but managed to rectify the situation by winning in the quarter-finals against the leader, Henry Dedieu (Toulouse) 6 to 0. The double World Champion course, revived, won his semi-final by the same score, and will defend his title tomorrow against Alexander Anthony (Villeneuve d’Ascq). same for me Noemie Richard (Carquefou) who, after dominating qualifying with 521 points, will seek to retain his crown against Virginia Chevrier (Lons le Saunier).
