The badminton players distinguished themselves in Cosne-sur-Loire

Guérigny. Asgu badminton distinguished itself at the Nièvre championships. President Rémi Lebarbier’s club recently returned from Cosne-sur-Loire with a Nièvre champion title (mixed doubles) and two third places in their pocket.

A good record, but which only imperfectly reflects the real level of the club, since a certain number of badminton players (men and women) are “too well ranked” and could not compete in this competition.

Indeed, the players are ranked by level (promotion, departmental, regional, national) and it takes at least three players in the same series to organize a championship.

Although the Nièvre has no national badminton player, it does have several at the regional level, practically all licensed at Asgu: two players in women’s singles, one player in men’s singles, two women’s doubles and one men’s doubles. Only the mixed doubles table was played, because the department has four, including three from Asgu.

It was in this last series that the title came, with the victory of the pair composed of Marie Marchadier and Guillaume Garnier.

For department level players, Kévin Crépillon and Benoît Martinet finished third in men’s doubles, as did Carine Messani and Dominique Garnier (mixed doubles). Note also the fourth places of the pairs Laura Chabassière-Kévin Crépillon and Hanna and Patrick Marchadier.
