The American man broke the Guinness World Record for shooting backwards from 26 meters | Throwing backwards | Basketball | NBA

[The Epoch Times, March 14, 2023](Reported by Epoch Times reporter Chen Juncun) You may have seen someone throw the ball backwards in a freestyle basketball performance, and they hit the ball accurately, but the distance was not very far. And America has a man who knows how to throw the ball back long distances. He recently let the basketball fly into the hoop 26 meters away with this throwing method, which not only broke the Guinness World Record (also known as the Guinness World Record), but also realized his childhood dream.

According to the Guinness Book of World Records website, the 30-year-old man named Jeremy Ware challenged the world for the world’s longest backward pitch on January 29 at the AT&T Center (AT&T Center), a stadium in San Antonio, Texas. As a result, the world record was successfully set with a score of 26.06 meters.

AT&T Center is the home of the NBA’s San Antonio Spurs. The Spurs mascot, The Coyote, and cheerleaders cheered Weir on at the court for the challenge.

From the short video provided by Guinness World Records, it can be seen that Weir threw the ball back near the basketball hoop on one side of the court, and it flew accurately into the basket on the other side. At this time, there was a burst of cheers from the scene, and the little wolf happily rushed to hug Weil.

Weir surpassed the previous record of 25.61 meters with a time of 26.06 meters, and is very close to the standard length of an NBA basketball court of 28.7 meters. That makes his pitch all the more amazing.

Weir has practiced throwing backwards since 2010 and is very good at it.

He said that he loved watching “Guinness Book of World Records” since he was a child. In high school, he was voted most likely to break the world record. By college, he was pretty good at throwing the ball backwards, but purely for fun. It was not until 12 years later that someone told him that he had this world record that he set it as his goal to challenge this record.

Although the challenge left his shoulders burning for days, as if “on fire”, he thought it was worth it.

“Words can’t describe how cool it is. I know how important it is and I’m deeply proud of it,” he said of the world-record feat.

“I don’t take it for granted. I can tell my children and generations of grandchildren that I have a Guinness World Records title! Not many people can say that,” he said.

Weir finally mentioned that his motto in life is “you get what you pay for”, and his pioneering work this time made his motto concrete.
