In the summer of 2024, the Olympic Games organized in Paris will thrill all French people around the events of the 28 Olympic sports and the 4 additional disciplines. Created with the Assembly of the Departments of France, the Terre de Jeux label was issued to the Sarthe departmentwhich has since been committed to mobilizing for the Games. Bringing the emotions of sport to life, putting more sport into everyday life inhabitants and grow the community of fans of Paris 2024 are part of the ambitions that are carried locally!
Many activities are organized on the territory between now and the Olympics, including Sarthe Land of Games Caravan. Free, open to all, whatever the level, the Caravan is the promise of a friendly moment to discover Olympic disciplines ! More than fifteen towns in Sarthe will host this event, which takes place on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
On Saturday March 25, 2023, Olivier Sasso, Vice-President of the Commission in charge of Sports, representing Dominique Le Mèner, President of the Sarthe Departmental Council, went to Beaufay to discover the first stage of the Sarthe Terre de Jeux Caravan, alongside Geraldine Chaillou-Vogel, Mayor of Beaufay and Pascal Lemeunier, President of the CDOS. At the sports village, educators from departmental sports committees and local clubs were present to practice athletics, badminton, volleyball, table tennis, shooting and rugby. A multitude of activities to give a taste for sport, especially for those who are far from it.
