Shin Tae-yong Talks about Brandon Scheunemann’s presence in the U-20 National Team

Jakarta

Brandon Scheunemann entered the U-20 Indonesian National Team to replace Zanadin Fariz. Coach Shin Tae-yong talked about the presence of Timo Scheunemann’s child.

Brandon was previously dropped by Shin Tae-yong for the 2023 U-20 Asian Cup squad. However, Brandon was eventually flown to Uzbekistan to replace Zanadin, who was injured.

Shin Tae-yong actually already knew that Zanadin had suffered an injury while still with the team in the Mini Tournament ahead of the U-20 Asian Cup. Zanadin’s condition worsened again a few days before the match against Iraq in the first matchday of Group A.

“Actually, Zanadin (Fariz) has been injured since he was in Jakarta. However, there were no reports of any problems, so he was finally brought to Uzbekistan,” said Shin Tae-yong.

“And the day before the match (against Iraq U-20), we practiced on a field that was not good, which affected Zanadin’s injury. So, like it or not, we had to be replaced with Brandon,” Shin Tae-yong continued.

Indonesia has had its first match in Group A, Wednesday (1/3). Garuda Nusantara lost 0-2 to Iraq.

Brandon had the opportunity to appear in Indonesia’s second match against Syria. The match will take place at Lokomotiv Stadium, Tashkent, Saturday (4/3) evening WIB.

In the last match of the group phase, Indonesia will face the host, Uzbekistan. The match will take place at the Istiqlol Stadium, Fergana, on 7 March 2023.
