Saint-Malo: the JA has more than 2,000 members

In the aftermath of the health crisis, theJoan of Arc sports association gently climb the slope with 2,095 members over the 2021-2022 period, compared to 2,728 members in 2019-2020.

Half are under 18

54% of these members are under 18 years old, 22% are between 19 and 59 years old and 10% are over 60 years old.

33 employees

It should also be noted that 70% of the 2,095 members live in Saint-Malo.

The JA employs 33 people, including 22 full-time equivalents. Two-thirds are sports educators, the others occupy the functions of reception, secretariat, accounting and maintenance.

Nearly 20 sections

The Jeanne d’Arc sports association brings together nearly twenty sections: Aikido, Circus Arts, Badminton, Billiards, Dance, Fencing, Football, Futsal, Gymnastics, Judo, Krav-Maga, Multisport, Bodybuilding, Parkour, Qi Gong, Squash , Tennis, Archery, Yoga-tai-chi.

Fencing, the biggest Breton club

The gymnastics section remains the one that attracts the most with 551 practitioners in 2022, as does tennis (342), football (317), but also fencing (207). “No one knows, but fencing at JA is still the biggest Breton club! For several years, we have been asking the City for a room suitable for hosting major fencing competitions, but this has not been possible so far,” said Section President Pascal Desmares.

Daniel Guégan announced that “the hockey section, in disuse, will disappear in the coming days. »

Moving within 2 or 3 years

In 2025 or 2026, the JA will move into premises integrated into the Intermarché de la Découverte renewal project.

During the general meeting of March 9, 2023, Jean-Luc Plihon and Daniel Guegan expressed their desire to meet the promoter Réalités to find out more about the future rooms that the JA will be able to occupy. In the meantime, “we will no longer do any work in the 4,400 m² we have in Saint-Servan. We will focus on section development. »

This decision is also constrained by a deficit of €180,000 recorded as of August 31, 2022.
