Andrey Rublev and Daniil Medvedev They will fight to reap the title in the ATP 500 Dubai 2023, in what will be one more episode of an intimate rivalry that goes back to its childhood stage. Both players stood out in Russia when they were children and they have grown together and established a really curious story. They are well known for their strong character on court and Rublev described what their matches were like. “We were totally crazy, each point lasted 10 minutes, we were throwing balloons all the time and when we lost important points we started screaming and yelling. The dynamic was 10 minutes of point and 3 crying. Our matches were 3 and 4 hour battles, we shot rackets against the ground all the time. Daniil was just crazy, he said things to the chair umpire while I complained, yelled, cried and ate clay”, admits the Russian with a laugh.
“The other one crying, ‘Everything is terrible!’ It was three or four hours like this. We’d flip out differently. I was throwing rackets, crying, whining. He was throwing rackets but without crying and whining. Instead, he would yell at everything and everyone around.” (3/4)
