Rose on Gladbach’s fan protests: “Then maybe it will normalize”

In the first leg, Marco Rose and RB Leipzig lost 3-0 at Borussia Mönchengladbach. In a game that was accompanied by bad gaffes from Gladbach fans, who were directed against the Leipzig construct, the former coach and, above all, in a particularly shabby form, the long-time Gladbach manager Max Eberl.

Not an easy return: Marco Rose in the first leg in Gladbach.

In the second leg on Saturday in the Leipzig Arena, Rose expects expressions of dissatisfaction from the Gladbach block (“I would say it’s part of the game”), at the same time the coach pleaded for a cautious approach to the subject in public. “If you stop giving the topic a lot of importance in the media, it may normalize at some point,” said Rose at his employer’s press conference on Friday.

“I think that the impact and duration of the disappointment on the other hand also shows that at some point they did a decent job there. Max did that for 13 years and I was able to work for a great club for over two years,” added Rose. For Eberl, who was not under contract with RB in the first leg, Saturday’s game is the first reunion with his former club.

Rose not happy with Leipzig’s U19s

Although a few places on the Leipzig reserve bench will remain free in view of the injury plight on Saturday, Rose has decided not to temporarily promote young players to the professional squad and gave a rather devastating testimony with the justification of their own U19s. “I’m not adding any because you have to earn it. I don’t see any U-19 players we’re putting on the bench right now,” said Rose.

RB only ranks eighth in the Junior Bundesliga North/Northeast – behind clubs like Dresden, St. Pauli, Hanover and Union Berlin, which have to make do with far fewer financial resources. That’s another reason why Rose demanded on Friday: “I want us to become more focused in the youth and take steps forward.”
