Richmond (VA), the Flying Squirrels ready for the start of the baseball season but the stadium is not yet

RICHMOND (VA) – I Richmond Flying Squirrels are preparing to start the baseball championship with the debut Friday, April 7 in the home game against the Reading Fightin Phils. The city is in fibrillation, but in the meantime repair work is underway at the Diamond stadium to ensure that the structure complies with the guidelines of the Major League Baseball are still to be finished.

On Monday evening, the Richmond City Council approved an ordinance to relocate $3.5 million from the Capital Maintenance Reserve to help finance the stadium’s refurbishment work, which specifically affects the construction of a new pitching and batting tunnel, new changing rooms and roof repairs.

The Diamond which was built in 1984 and has never undergone any refurbishment since then, with several parts of the property needing to be refurbished. The set goal is to complete the work before the big appointment.

Meanwhile, on March 4, again at the Diamond, from 11 to 14, the traditional inauguration party called “Nutzy’s Blockfirst chance for fans to buy match tickets for the 2023 season, with the event also including a DJ, food trucks, caricature artist, selfie booth and treasure hunt with prizes.
