Team doctor Madura United Marcello Araujo cried after helping Ricki Ariansyah who collapsed in the match against PSIS Semarang Of Liga 1.
Madura United player Ricki Ariansyah alias Rian was unconscious after colliding with an opposing player while scoring a goal against PSIS Semarang in the League 1 match at the Jatidiri Stadium, Semarang, on Tuesday (7/3).
When he collapsed, Rian got help from his teammate, Reva Adi, who tried to pull his tongue so he wouldn’t swallow it. After that, the Madura United team doctor, Marcello Araujo, came to provide first aid. After helping Rian, Marcello cried.
“We are part of the Madurese family. My family is Madurese. So [saya menangis] because he is part of the Madurese family. He also underwent physiotherapy with me for a long time,” said Marcello, quoted from Youtube Madura United TV.
“So if we want help first, we have to calm down and know what we have to do first. At that time I spoke to him and he responded to me ‘Doctor’. After that I got emotional and I kissed his head. And I knew he was there with us again,” Marcello added.
Marcello said the moment of saving Rian who was unconscious was very emotional.
“We can’t be unemotional if we can return someone who can’t breathe, to breathe again. That must be emotional for anyone,” said Marcello.
“I also want to thank the fans, the Madura supporters, and all the supporters in Indonesia who sent me messages. Thank you very much,” Marcello added.
Now, it is reported that Rian’s condition is getting better while being treated at the Elizabeth Hospital in Semarang.
