The 30-year-old Rakels spent the previous season and a half in the RFS team, becoming the Latvian champion and cup winner.
Before that, Rakel represented the Cypriot championship team “Pafos”, to which he was loaned by “Riga”.
During his career, the footballer also played for the Polish teams Cracovia, Poznań Lech, Lubin Zaglebie and Katowice GKS, as well as being under the auspices of Reading, the second most powerful league in England. At the beginning of his career, the resident of Jēkabpils played in the “Liepājas Metalurgs” team.
In his career, Rakels also played 32 games as part of the Latvian national team, for which he scored one goal.
In the previous season, “Super Nova”, debuting in the elite, took the last position in the Latvian football superleague, but kept its place in the top league, because Jūrmala “Spartaks” did not apply for participation in the championship.
