Porzingis leads ‘Wizards’ to victory over ‘Celtics’ with dominant performance

Latvian superstar Kristaps Porzingis scored 32 points and 13 rebounds on Wednesday night, helping the Washington “Wizards” win the National Basketball Association (NBA) regular season championship match.

The “Wizards” defeated the Boston “Celtics” 130:111 (29:23, 35:28, 35:27, 31:33) at home, ending their three-game winning streak.

Porzingis spent 33:58 minutes on the court, during which he made 11 two-point shots (11/16), three (3/5) long shots and the only free throw. The Latvian also had six assists (one short of the career record), one interception, one blocked shot, one note and a +/- of +26, which was the best in this match.

The Latvian averaged 23.2 points and 8.4 rebounds in 65 games this season.

The “Wizards” played this match without their other leaders, Bradley Beal and Kyle Kuzma, who have settled down with injuries. Meanwhile, Israel’s Dani Avdi had a career-high 25 points and 10 rebounds, while Monte Morris had 19 points.

In the “Celtics” team, Jayson Tatum had 28 points and nine rebounds, while Jaylen Brown added 18 points.

“Wizards” demonstrated a convincing performance in this game – the lead was gradually increased with each quarter. The home team ended the first half with a 13-point advantage (64:51), but at the end of the fourth quarter, the lead exceeded the 20-point mark several times, and Washington did not let the success slip away.

The Wizards are 11th in the Eastern Conference with 34 wins in 76 games. It is two wins behind the tenth-placed Chicago “Bulls”, who are currently the last to secure the right to participate in the “play-in”. Washington has six games left in the regular season.
