Palanca: ‘Extraordinary feat from Catanzaro’ – Football

“Catanzaro, with the promotion to Serie B obtained today five games early, has accomplished an extraordinary feat”. Massimo Palanca, old glory of Catanzaro, in which he played for 11 seasons, told ANSA, allowing the team to achieve important successes especially in the period in which he played in Serie A.
It was Palanca, in particular, who was responsible for Catanzaro’s historic 3-1 victory in the 1978-1979 championship at Roma, scoring all three of the team’s goals, one of which thanks to his specialty: the ball into the net, with a mocking and elusive left foot, directly from a corner (he scored 13 in this way during his career).
“Promotion to B – adds Palanca – represents a result obtained with full merit, thanks to a game of great quality and a simply impressive roadmap: only one defeat in the whole championship, 87 goals scored and 13 conceded”.
Palanca says he has an “extraordinary memory” of his experience as a player in Catanzaro. “It was a fundamental step – says the former Giallorossi striker – for my career and for my life. I still have many friends in Catanzaro, some of whom are my former teammates who remained in the Calabrian capital and with the whom I often feel. People to whom an indelible memory binds me”.
