Seven victories, in seven outings, consecrated Nicolás Morales from Quindío as the absolute champion of the Colombia Badminton Cup, under-17 category, which took place at the University of Quindío.
Morales, the number 1 racket in the national ranking, faced the most outstanding of this sport who came to the contest representing Antioquia, Valle del Cauca, Cundinamarca and Risaralda, among other regions, and is already getting ready to participate in a camp international in Kingston, Jamaica, in April.
Morales, who already competes with the country’s great badminton players in the senior category, will be one of the main aces of coach Hugo Morales, his father, at the XXII National Sports Games Eje Cafetero and Valle del Cauca 2023.
Other Quindians who took part in the Colombia Badminton Cup, Saray Daniela Pescador and Sergio Zapata, placed second and third, respectively.
The South Coliseum, in Armenia, will be the official venue of the badminton tournament of the National Sports Games from November 11 to 15 of this year, in the open category (both branches).
