Nicolás Jarry triumphs in Santiago and Donna Vekic and Marta Kostyuk are proclaimed champions in Monterrey and Austin

The Chilean Nicolás Jarry has conquered the Santiago tournament, in the ATP 250 category and played on clay, after beating the Argentine Tomás Martín Etcheverry in the final (6-7(5), 7-6(5), 6-2 ), while the Croatian Donna Vekic and the Ukrainian Marta Kostyuk have been proclaimed champions of Monterrey (Mexico) and Austin (United States), respectively.

Jarry, 27, was forced to come back after Etcheverry prevailed in the ‘tie-break’ of the opening set. Sudden death also handed down a sentence in the second sleeve after a break on each side, but this time the balance fell on the side of the local tennis player.

Already in the third set, Jarry took the lead 4-1 and did not miss his opportunity to close the match after almost three hours of battle. With his second ATP title, he moves up 35 spots to world number 52.

On the WTA circuit, the Ukrainian Marta Kostyuk won the first trophy of her career by winning the final of the Austin (United States) tournament, in the WTA 250 category and played on hard court, against the Russian Varvara Gracheva (6-3, 7 -5).

On the same surface and in an event of the same category, the tournament in Monterrey (Mexico), the Croatian Donna Vekic surprised the top favorite and number five in the world, the French Caroline Garcia (6-4, 3-6, 7 -5), to raise his fourth wound in the circuit.
