NFL Rumors: Adam Schefter Reveals Aaron Rodgers’ 2 Options Left

ESPN’s Adam Schefter says Aaron Rodgers has only two options left, and returning to the Green Bay Packers isn’t one of them.

The 2023 championship year officially begins on March 15, when free agency signings can be officially announced. The quarterback market is going to be heavily watched, but the big domino that needs to fall is Aaron Rodgers, who is still deciding his status for the 2023 season. hasn’t made a decision on whether he wants to return to the Green Bay Packers, play elsewhere or retire, but he says a decision will come “soon enough.” »

According to an NFL insider, there are only two options left.

During an appearance on ESPN’s SportsCenter, NFL pundit Adam Schefter said he had a feeling Rodgers would either choose to play for a new team, which would likely be the New York Jets, or to retire. As for the Packers, Schefter says “there are more and more signs that he’s leaving Green Bay.”

Adam Schefter says Aaron Rodgers has only two options left, and coming back to the Packers isn’t one of them.

“We’ve heard from the Packers about Jordan Love and the confidence they have in him and the progress he’s made,” Schefter said, h/t Bleacher Report. “And I think he’s their future quarterback here, clearly. And they continue to await the decision of Aaron Rodgers, who knows that at one point he said the Packers had conversations about him with other teams. And that’s why I believe it will either be the New York Jets or retire at the end. And we’ll see how it goes, but there’s nothing from Aaron Rodgers yet. It has to come soon.”

The Packers are in an interesting position when it comes to quarterback. While Rodgers has won two NFL MVP titles in two of the past three seasons, the Packers used a 2020 first-round pick on Jordan Love, who is Rodgers’ successor. On May 1, the team must decide whether to waive his fifth-year option, or let him become a free agent after the 2023 season. Obviously, the fifth-year option would be the more ideal decision.

During a media interview at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis, Ind., Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst said Love “needs to play.”

The Jets have been the biggest jumping off point for Rodgers if he asked for a trade. The team has a solid squad, but the game of its quarterback prevented it from qualifying for the playoffs. A report from Tony Pauline of Pro Football Network indicated that the Jets would go all out to acquire Rodgers. Not to mention, the Jets have hired Nathaniel Hackett, who has a strong relationship with Rodgers during their time in Green Bay, as their new offensive coordinator.

As for retirement, Rodgers has openly discussed it in recent years, even dating back to the 2021 season.

With the championship year fast approaching, NFL fans will be waiting for an official update from Rodgers. Based on Schefter’s comments, it looks like a trade to the Jets or retirement are the likeliest options for Rodgers.
